Is there any way to wipe up my whole Mac laptop?

I have a mac laptop loaded with Mac OS. But recently I have got viruses in my OS due to which my system is severely affected by the problem of slow performance. So, I am considering wiping my whole system and then re-install in order to get rid from viruses. But I have no idea how to wipe mac laptop. Does anyone have the solution to my problem? Tell me the steps involved.

To wipe mac laptop, the first option you can try is to format the hard drive. The steps involved are:

• Insert the original disks that came with the OS.
• Restart the system.
• Now hold option key down or startup
• A window will appear stating boot menu and the installed disc
• Click on it and the installing is started.
• While configuring installation, select the option of Format and Install.

Following these steps can resolve your problem but not perfectly. The data formatted can be recovered
