Can I format Single hard drive with both NTFS and FAT?

I know that it is possible to have the particular hard drive with one partition NTFS and one partition with FAT. I just want to know is there are any risk in doing as comparable to this to making both NTFS and FAT.

Yes it is possible and you can do it. According to you to any file system you can format any hard drive partition but within a limit. No risk is involved , but it depend which plan you have to decide to use you have different filename lengths, partition size limits and few use of space. The most likely option is FAT 32, there is the chances of slack is highest if the partition will larger than 32 GB. But Windows XP does not allow partition larger than 32GB. You can create FAT32 partition larger than 32 in Disk Management , it will also not allow you to do so.

If you have plan to do partition larger than 32 GB then use NTFS instead. NTFS is more secure , space efficient and it is more stable. But when you are creating share partition , then not use NTFS because it get accessed by both Windows and other operating system. In such it is best to use FAT32. Stellar phoenix fat ntfs is the best to use .
