The reason for the prohibitory sign on Mac can be problem with settings between the hardware and software components which are not valid. This situation can be very annoying for anyone and also can lead to severe data loss. Then for data recovery one needs a Macintosh file recovery software program to recover the lost data.

To solve out the issue you can try by resetting the PRAM. Hold Options+Command+P+R keys after pressing the power button. Let the cycle be completed. After that Boot your system using Mac OS X boot DVD. Then Perform Erase and Install Installation. Well it will replace all your system files and data structures. If you have a valid backup then you can easily recover your lost mac data

This process will work for you just try it…good luck.
