How do I know about PST file damage?

I want to know about the situation with which I will become able to understand that the PST file has been damaged.

In the situation when the MS Outlook PST file becomes damaged then MS Outlook will try to repair the damaged file automatically. As such when you will start using MS Outlook then you will recognize that the start window tells you that Outlook is attempting to repair your mailbox. However it depends on the problem that has occurred. Sometimes Outlook may not be able to repair the problem then in this condition you will have to use Inbox repair tool. In this situation Scanpst.exe can only run if the problem in PST file has occurred due to the Outlook or is corrupted due to hard disk problem.
