How to extract data from an EDB File that has gone corrupt ?

The EDB file on which I was working has gone corrupt due to some reasons. I am having a hell of a time to get access to the damaged file but to no avail.

Can anybody give me information about extracting data from a corrupt EDB file? I have got Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 Standard Edition and I don’t want to go for any EDB Repair software.

You can use Exmerge utility to extract the data from the corrupt EDB File. You can follow the steps mentioned below to extract data from the damaged EDB File:

•Run the Exmerge utility and then click the Two Step Merge
•Type the server name for the Exchange Server that has errors
•On the Import Procedure tab, click on Merge Data into the Target Store to import the data from the .pst file and click next

By performing these operations, the data is exported to a new .pst file. After when the export process is completed, go through the following operations:

•Stop the information store service and after that rename all MDBDATA folders on the server
•Recreate empty MDBDATA folders on the server
•Create a new Priv.edb database by starting the information store service
•After that send a message to all the users on Exchange Server by logging onto your mailbox
•Run the Exmerge utility again, and after that click “Next” option
•Click the two options Two-Step Merge and Merge data from Personal Folders
•Type the name of the server and make sure that User Messages and Folders, Associated Folder Messages, and Folder Permissions check boxes are selected on the Data tab
•After verifying that all the users are selected then click “Select All” options
•Click the “Next” option to point the Point the directory to the location of the .pst files from step 1 of the migration

In this way, you can extract data from an EDB File that has gone corrupt without using any kind of EDB Repair software. But instead of going through this lengthy process, I would advise you to use EDB Repair software which would very easily repair the damaged EDB file and then you will be able to get access to all your data in the repair EDB File.
