What are the steps to convert the M2TS format and MTS format to other formats?

I have downloaded M2TS Converter and MTS Converter for Mac software’s so that I can convert the AVCHD formats to other formats. For installation when I read the manual I didn’t understood anything but I really want to perform the conversions. What should I do?

emilyjohnson 		MTS Converter for Mac is very easy software to work on and it is especially used for Mac systems. It efficiently converts the MTS format to other formats and also retains the original picture and sound quality.
Steps to convert MTS format are:
Step 1: Install MTS Converter and launch it.
Step 2: Click ‘ADD’ button to select the video files to be converted into desired format.
Step 3: After that select the format you want to convert the MTS file to.
Step 4: Choose the destination where you want to store the converted file.
Step 5: Click ‘CONVERT’ button to start conversion.
Step 6: After completion of conversion, open destination folder and enjoy the music.
